OpAiRS operates field spectrometers for validation and vicarious calibration of remote sensing data.
ASD Fieldspec Pro
In order to measure and validate surface reflectances at the test site in the 350-2500 nm spectral range, OpAiRS operates two ASD Fieldspec Pro spectrometers. The instruments use three photodiode arrays to cover the UV to SWIR range.
The instruments can record radiance spectra (raw mode) and reflectance spectra (white reference mode). The setup is battery powered and can be operated by one person. The field white standards are cross-calibrated to a laboratory white standard.
D&P Model 102
Surface emissivity and spectral radiance in the infrared can be measured with our portable Fourier transfer spectrometer. The detector is a double sandwich type. The detectors are cooled by liquid nitrogen. The whole setup is battery powered and can be operated by one or two persons.
Optical properties of the atmosphere are measured using two Microtops II photometers of the company Solar Light Co. (USA). The instruments are faced towards the sun to measure atmospheric transmission in 5 spectral bands. A Garmin GPS 12 receiver transmits geographic information to the Microtops II photometers and synchronises the clocks.The instruments can be operated together by one person.
