HySpex

High resolution, high speed hyperspectral camera

HySpex is a hyperspectral camera system developed by the Norwegian company NEO (Norsk Elektro Optikk A/S). The system consists of two imaging spectrometers whose data are combined during postprocessing to a single dataset. It samples the wavelength range from 410 to 2500 nm in up to 316 spectral channels. A precise navigation system (iMar, Germany) provides position and attitude data for georeferencing and correction of geometric errors caused by angular movements of the airplane.

The system arrived at DLR Oberpfaffenhofen on 13 December 2011. In 2012, laboratory characterisation, airworthiness certification, test flights, installation and test of the automatic data processing chain and commissioning flights will be performed. Operational usage on board of DLR's research aircrafts Dornier Do-228 and Cessna Grand Caravan is planned from 2013 on.
